Juice and Awe Temple / 祝三多廟 / 祝三多廟

在台南寺廟很多，應該這件事沒有人不知道。隨便騎起車來，就遇到寺廟。我好多次看到一座在東門路，最近才去看看。這座廟差不多在鐵路旁，在廟前也有機慢車用的地下通道也有汽車用的立交橋。因為廟很小，附近這樣交通擠滿所以不太會引起人的注意。名叫「祝三多廟」。

There are tons of temples all over Tainan.  There's one that I've noticed many times while out driving/cycling that I always meant to check out and never got around to until recently.  It's an odd little temple that's located on a street right next to an overpass and an underpass to get traffic over/under the train tracks.  It's also one of the smaller temples I've seen.

The temple's name is 祝三多, which is "Zhusanduo" in boring, standard pinyin, but which, based on it's pronunciation, can be more interestingly written as "Juice and Awe" temple.  (If you speak with a non-rhotic accent, you might even be able to substitute "war" for "awe".)  Don't believe me?  Plug those characters into Google Translate and have it speak them at you to hear what I mean.  (Also, I just discovered that the voice in Google Translate is different depending on whether you have traditional or simplified characters chosen.  Why in the world is that?)

臺南は廟だらけ。出かけたら必ずどこかで廟と出会ってしまう。今日紹介する廟は何回も前を通ったことがあるが、最近やっと訪れてみた。規模が小さくて、しかも面している場所には鉄道を超える道も地下道もあるので、この廟は見落としやすいかもしれない。名前は「祝三多」。（ジューサンドゥォァ）

附近有一些有趣的房子。我喜歡下面這棟的石柱。

This isn't the temple, just some random building on the same street, but I thought I would try to give you an idea of what the area looks like as well.  Plus I thought this buildings design was interesting with the teeny-tiny columns and all.

これは廟じゃなくて、近くにあった建物だけど、ちょっと周りの雰囲気も紹介しようと思った。

 Here's the underpass for scooters and bicycles.  Directly above it is an overpass for cars and motorcycles.

在廟旁邊的建築也不錯。

The building directly next to the temple is also kind of neat.

天花板有蝙蝠。

天井にコウモリが描いている。コウモリの中国に「フ」という発音が入っていて、「福」という字と発音が一緒だから、廟の模様にコウモリはよく使われている。

祝三多在照片右邊。（可是這一片在前面的建築後面所以看不到。）看這一片就懂這裡的立交橋的存在怎麼會壓倒週邊。

And here we can see how overwhelming the overpass is.  The temple is in front of us on the right side, though we can't see it from here.

もう一回外の様子を見せる。左側に鉄道の上を通っている車道が見える。廟は右側にあるが、この写真では見えない。

後來我跟著鐵路北上。我喜歡這邊市因為一邊有鐵路，另外一邊有紅磚牆。

Afterwards I went riding up by the train tracks.  I love how it looks here with the tracks on one side and the brick wall on the other.

後で鉄道に沿って北上した。ここに鉄道とレンガに囲まれた道がある。雰囲気が好きだから、写真撮った。

左邊的東西也是小小的廟。

The small building on the left is yet another very small temple.  (The trains tracks are on the right side in this photo.)

鉄道の間隣にまた別の小さな廟がある。

這裡只是一般人的房子而已，但是我覺得窗戶的樣子有趣。

This is just some person's house.  It's not ye olde and traditional like temples are, but I thought the random-seeming placement of the window-things was interesting.

人ん家。窓が面白いと思った。
