I went to Zuoying a couple of times recently. Once was just to see the area a bit, and the second time was to see a festival that they have there every year called the Wannian Festival. Zuoying is in the north part of the city of Kaohsiung, and I've heard that it was the first part of the modern city to be settled by Chinese people. The area is surrounded by hills, so it's easily defendable, and after one particularly large rebellion in Taiwan, the Qing Government built city walls in Zuoying, some of which still remain.
この間二回左営に行って来た。一回目は特に何も無かった、単に行ってみたかっただけ。でも二回目は「万年季」という祭を見に行った。左営は高雄市の北部にある地域で、現在の高雄の中で中国から渡ってきた人が最初に住み着いたところだ。その背景には、この地域に山に囲まれているという理由がある。そのため防御しやすい地域だ。
我最近去左營玩兩次。第一次沒有特別的目的、可是第二次是為了看左營萬年季去了。左營是高雄裡、華人最早住的地方。還有一些清朝的古堡。

This lake, Lotus Lake, is the center of touristy Zuoying. The area around it is a big park with lots of temples.
この「蓮の池」の周りに廟がたくさんある。左営に観光しに来る人はだいたいここにまず寄って来る。
左營最引起觀光客的地方、蓮池潭。
This temple in particular is famous. You go in the tiger's mouth and come out the dragon's mouth. Or maybe the other way around. I don't remember.
この廟は特に有名だ。
On the next trip to Zuoying to see the festival, we rented bikes from Kaohsiung's bike-share system. My advice if you use it is to get a subway card which you can then use to pay for the bikes. You can also use a credit card, but it's not very convenient, and there was at least one station where the credit card reader was broken.
二回左営に来た時、高雄の自転車シェアーを使ってみた。まあまあ便利だけど、クレジットカード使わない方がいいかも。番号入れるのは面倒臭いだけじゃなくて、一カ所ではカードリーダーが壊れたため使えなかった。
下次我用高雄公共腳踏車來逛街。
