More Cats, Boars, and a lighthouse!/

Continuing from where we left off two posts ago:  After we finished playing with cats and gazing adoringly at Nakaoka Shintarou, we headed up to the lighthouse on the hill that you saw in one of the photos from the last post.  On the way to the lighthouse was this temple, which may be one of the 88 from the Shikoku Henro.

Official Lovers' Point
 Lighthouse!!

This lighthouse was originally built in 1899, and electrified in 1917.  The sign also mentions that it suffered typhoon damage in 1934 and war damage after that, so the lens was repaired in 1946.

When we headed back to the car, there was a wild board wandering around nearby!  I was actually a little nervous because I thought it looked kind of small, and just about the most dangerous kind of boar you can meet is a baby.  Not because of the baby itself, but because of the mom nearby who will kill you if she thinks you're threatening her baby.  I stayed a safe distance away and took these photos.

We then went to this lookout point on a hill.  For some reason, the parking lot was filled with cats and one random dog.

So do busloads of tourists all just stop here and feed the cats?  It was really creepy actually, because they were all staring at us, expecting something, so it was like Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds", but with cats.

The view at the lookout point above the creepy cats.

Some abandoned-looking structure.  It has this overdone feeling to it that makes me wonder if it isn't another Bubble-era project that went under after the Japanese economy went south.  The country's filled with them, as I expect China will be in another couple of decades.  Mark my words, the Chinese bubble's good now, but be prepared to get out of there in another 10 years or so.  It's not going to last.

A camera stand so that you can take a mushy, nauseating photo with the person you love and set it as your smartphone background.

There was a museum about whaling which we missed the closing time of by about an hour.  It's too bad.  They apparently have a full whale skeleton on display.  We just got to see this harpoon out front.

Kochi City at night.  Remember, we only got here after another couple hours of driving.

Time to go to sleep so that we can wake up and drive another couple hours down to Kochi Prefecture's other southern point! Yay... (so tired)
