Even though I went to Anping once before, there was a group trip out there run by the Mandarin Center. It was free and included a bus and a guide who knew stuff about things, so I went.
I'm not going to say much about Anping itself since we already know all about that. Let's learn about Banyan trees instead!
Some of them have fruit that grows near the leaves...
And some have fruit that grows on the branches. They're related to figs, and their seeds get spread by bird droppings usually.
沖縄の「ガジュマル」と言う木は台湾では「榕樹」（ロングシュ）と言う名前に成っている。イチジクの仲間で、上記の写真に見える通り、実を葉っぱと一緒に枝先で出来る種類も、枝の横から出てくる種類も有る。
ガジュマルは生長が強くて家の近くに植える人が少ない。壁とかを壊してしますから。この安平ガジュマルハウスは有る意味で鳥の糞にやられた。そう。ガジュマルの実は鳥に食べられて、そして種は糞と一緒に出て来る。人がこの家にガジュマルを植えたんじゃなくて、鳥が植えたのだ。ケツで植えた。
黄色い垂れているのはまだ生きている。長く成って、物に当たったら、そこから新しい株が生えて来るらしい。
、、、みたいな事が言われた。人が多くてガイドさんの話がちゃんと聞こえなかった事も有った。又台風が台湾に接した日だから風も強くて、それもガイドさんの話を邪魔した。
The hangy, dangly yellow things grow from the tree and go down until they hit something. They then take root and grow up a new trunk-structure from there. This is why these trees can totally take over a house like they've done here.

この部屋（部屋か？屋根が無く成ったけど）に入ったら、結婚写真を撮っているカップルが居た。
Evidently there was some human-made structure here originally that caused the root? limb? thing to grow in a perfect 90 degree angle.
今は運動場しか無いけど、日本時代には小学校がここに有った。学校前の門が今も残っている。卒業生は同窓会の時にここで集まるらしい。

亜熱帯には面白い植物が多いですね。
ReplyDelete寒い気候のところには、こういう個性的な植物はないです。
植物や昆虫などは、熱帯や亜熱帯の方がだんぜん種類も多いし、変わったものが多くて楽しいと思う。
ガイドさんの話って、中国語だったの？
よくわかったね。
いや、いや。中国語だったらそこまで分からんやったろう。英語で全部言って呉れた。
