今天也是哈德遜河谷的照片。第一張是一個非常大的鎔爐。

Here are some more photos from the upper Hudson Valley. First off is a big--I mean really big--forge from Copake Falls.

在日落光裡的電線哪知這麼美麗？

The sun is getting low in the sky, and this mess of electric wires looks more beautiful than I would have thought electric wires ever could.

日暮れで見た電線は意外と綺麗だった。電線が綺麗になるのは予想もつかなかった。

在題目裡我寫「公館」，是叫做「歐拉哪」的這一棟。建造的人名叫邱奇。他是一個哈德遜河派的畫家。他為畫畫賺錢，賺到變成一個富翁了。他按照在中東旅行中他看到的東西親自計劃這棟家。因為他的專業是畫風景所以他也挑剔家周邊的環境，選這裡的原因是因為在山上，也是哈德遜河看得清楚。

And here's the mansion I promised in the post title. Olana! The house was designed and built by Frederic Edwin Church, one of the Hudson River School painters. He amazingly enough not only made a living, but even became rich from his painting work. He built this home on a hill overlooking the Hudson based on what he had seen during his travels to the Middle East. Inside the house is also a fantastic collection of bric-a-brac, art, and chachkas that he collected on his travels. Unfortunately, photography is not allowed inside, so I only have photos of the outside of the house. (Though the outside alone is quite impressive enough!)

タイトルで述べた「邸宅」はこれだ：オラーナ。この家はフレドリックエドウィンチャーチという美術家のデザインに基づかれて建てられた。チャーチは画家だったが、珍しくてそれでお金持ちになった。チャーチは「ハドソンリバー派」の画家の一人だから、この家と周りのグラウンドは住む為だけでなく、いい作品を作り出す為でもあった。建物が山の上にあって、そこから周りの平地とハドソン川がよく見える。チャーチは物集めも好きだったみたいで、家の中に色々な美術品や変わった物も収納されている。残念なことに、中は撮影禁止だから、外見の写真しかない。ちなみに、チャーチのデザインは中東の旅した時がきっかけだったので、「ペルシアの邸宅」と自称した。

這裡的風景真的不錯！邱奇也設備很多散步路在家周邊。

The view is spectacular as well. The surrounding landscaped hill was also all Church's property, and as a landscape painter, he paid careful attention to the grounds as well as the house itself. It was too hot to walk around much, but there are even now paths all around the property that you can walk on and enjoy different views of the area.

ハドソン川と周りの風景がよく見える。チャーチはこの山に散歩道をたくさん設けた。かれの専門は風景描写だから大自然が鑑賞できる場所を大事にしていた。

我進去配導遊觀光裡面。裡面有很多美術品，什麼的，但是很可惜家裡攝影禁止。

出來我再拍一些。導遊的說明很有趣，我會推薦參與。但你要小心，因為可以參與的人數很少，所以先預約再去才對。

The tour has ended, and I took a couple more photos of the house with the sun lower in the sky. The tour was very good, by the way, and I recommend it. Make reservations though because there are only so many tours a day, and each one is only a small number of people.
