Tie Non: Museum of Firefighting / 消防博物館 / 消防博物館

我參觀紐約州哈德遜鄉的消防博物館。

I visited the Museum of Firefighting in Hudson, NY while I was upstate.

ニューヨーク州のハドソン町に訪れた時、消防博物館にも訪れた。

看起來在著忙。

Something about the pose makes it look like this guy is in a major hurry.

めっちゃ急いどる様に見える。

外表看起來沒有什麼，但這個博物館的展示物真的很厲害！關於消防的機器，工具很多。想看完的話，需要一，兩個小時。

From the outside it doesn't look like much, but this museum is very cool. They have quite a collection of firetrucks and other firefighting technology. If you like looking at old machines and whatnot, definitely give yourself an hour or two to browse everything here.

外見はそんなにインパクトがないが、この博物館はけっこうすごい。色々な消防関係の機械や道具などが展示されて、ちゃんと見たいと思ったら一、ニ時間ぐらい用意した方がいい。

出來就看到夏天蓬鬆的雲。

When I stepped back outside I was greeted by these fluffy summer clouds.

再び外出たら、夏のふわふわした雲に歓迎してもらった。

哈德遜鄉是一個很可愛的鄉鎮。紅磚建物很多。

Hudson, NY is a cute town. They have a nice main street with lots of old, brick buildings.

ハドソン町は可愛らしい町だ。昔ながらのレンガ造りの建物がメインストリートに建ち並んでいる。

道路標誌有鯨魚。我看到了就覺得很不可思議。哈德遜鄉離海很遠，應該跟鯨魚什麼關係都沒有吧。但我查看看，發現哈德遜鄉以前是一個捕鯨很繁榮的鄉鎮。雖然離海很遠，可是因為哈德遜河很寬大，所以這個鄉鎮還是有海洋的船隻常常來。

I was confused by the whales on the street signs. Why would a town that's located one hundred miles upriver from the ocean have whales on its street signs? It turns out that, because the Hudson River is so large and navigable, back in the day, Hudson was something of a whaling town! Seriously though, look it up on a map and see just how far away from the sea it is. It's a nice reminder of what a huge part of the US's transportation network the Hudson River was back in the days before railroads. (And even after, up until the present actually.)

この町は全然海に近くないのに、なんで標識に鯨が描かれているだろうかと思った。調べてみたら、この町は意外と捕鯨の町だったそうだ！さすがハドソン川は広くて交通しやすいと改めて悟った。地図で見てみてね。ものすごく海から離れている。
