A Very Quick Look at Nangan/急いで見た南竿/南竿看一下

週三我才離開東莒。（原本打算週二離開。）那天早上我再去看燈塔。

I left Dongju on Wednesday, after being trapped there on Tuesday due to the waves being to big for the boats to sail.  Early in the morning on Wednesday I went to the lighthouse one last time to take some photos of it when it was shining.

元々火曜日に東莒を離れるつもりだったのに、波の関係で水曜日にやっと船が出れた。その朝早くもう一回東莒の灯台を見に行った。

早上搭船到南竿。飛機是下午的所以我租車看南竿一下。這裡是名牌「八八坑道」高粱的儲存。

I took a ferry to Nangan to get my plane back to Formosa.  Since I had a couple of hours to kill, I took a quick spin around the island.  The first place I went to was the tunnel below.  It's the "88 Tunnel", and while it used to be a military installation, it now is used by a spirit distillery to house their product.

船で南竿に渡って行った。飛行機まで時間が何時間もあったので、バイクを借りてちょっと回ってみた。ここは「八八坑道」というトンネル。元々は軍用だったが、現在は同じ名前の酒会社が貯蔵空間として利用している。この酒は「高梁」という蒸留酒。

接下來我去看馬港天后宮。聽說算是媽祖過世了之後身體流到的地方。

I next went to the west side of the island to check out a big Mazu temple.  Mazu is a goddess who is worshipped by people of Chinese descent all throughout east and south-east Asia.  She used to be a person, and when she died at sea, her body was said to have washed up here.

次に「馬港天后宮」という廟を見に行った。媽祖という女神が海で亡くなった後で身体が流れ着いた場所とされている。（媽祖は元々人間だったから。）

我也打算去看叫做「鐵堡」的據點，可是到了才發現因為波浪大的關係沒有開。

I wanted to go to this place called "Iron Fort" (Tiebao) on the south coast of the island, but when I got there it turned out that the sea was still to rough and it was closed.

次は「鉄堡」という砦を見に行った。でも波が大きいから閉まっていた。

再去仁愛港。有一些老家。

Also on the southern coast is the town of Ren'ai.  They have a collection of old houses there.

仁愛港に行って古い建築を見学した。

南竿の地図。でもどうしても九州と膨らんだ屋久島に見える。

It says in Chinese "Brass players beware".  Because of the nearby Iron Fortress that I mentioned above, this town has long had a bad relationship with anything made out of metals other than iron.

最後去北海坑道。

The last place I went was Beihai Tunnel.

最後に北海坑道に行った。

這裡可以搭船觀光。在這裡也看到了藍眼淚！

You can ride a boat, rowed by a very talkative tour guide, through the tunnel.

中でガイド付きの舟に乗ることができる。ここで「藍眼涙」という生物発光機能がある藻が見えた。（写真には登場しない。光が弱くて撮れなかった。）

給自己馬祖的禮物。左邊是（東莒）東犬燈塔，右邊是（東引）東湧燈塔。

Things to remember Matsu by.  The left one is Dongju's lighthouse, and the right one is Dongyin's.
