Cats and Rocks/

Let's continue looking around Green Island.  Today we'll see the island's primary features: Cats and Rocks.  (This is something it shares with a lot of other small islands I've been to.)
I took some photos while going around the island's main coastal loop road.

The waves really were pretty crazy.

The (very, very) "Little Great Wall"

Action shot!!!  (Probably because the wind was so strong it was hard for me to hold my camera still.)

It seems that there is indeed a cliff.  The sign was not wrong.

The photos above were from the first evening on the island.  The next morning, we got up early to enjoy one of the most special parts of Green Island: the seaside hot springs!  These hot springs were originally developed during the Japanese period, and they're still very popular even now.  They face east, so it's a good place to go in the morning to see the rising sun.

The waves were so bad that they shut down the actual parts down on the beach.  We were still lucky we went when we did.  Later on in the day they had shut down the entire hot springs because of the waves.

Hot spring cats.  They made a home out of one of the baskets and were raising kittens there.

There's a big cliff near the hot springs.  Let's go up on top!

Another abandoned bunker

It was really windy.
Watch out!  Another cliff!  Thank god for these signs.

Goats down on the beach.

Let's get back to driving around the island.

These signs were all over.  All over the island they ask you to drive slowly, not because of accidents so much as because they don't want you to be running over crabs and stuff left and right.

One way of spelling Green Island's Chinese name with Roman letters is "Lyudao".  It looks like the "u" go turned upside-down on this sign.  "Lyndao"?  Who's Lyn?

(Lyndao)
The police station has it right.

...and the post office uses an alternate spelling that drops the "y".

Birds on the shore

Cats hunting birds on the shore

Is he possibly tired out from hunting birds?
