Third day in the Pescadores! The first thing I did on this morning was take a photo of the ridiculous court house across from where we were staying. Keep in mind, while this building looks like something you'd see in lower Manhattan, the population of the entire island chain is under 100,000. I can only imagine that each public employee in this building must have their own corner office and at least four closets for personal use.
これは澎湖旅行の三日目だ。出かけたら、最初に写真撮ったのは民宿の対面に有った裁判所だ。どこかの大都会に見掛けそうなでかい建物に成っている。でも澎湖諸島は人口全部合わせても、１０万人もいない。誰かのカリスマ政治家が澎湖から出ているのかな？
在澎湖第三天。我出門了就把這個很大的建築拍到了。這是一個法院。雖然非常大、好像在臺北看得到的建築、可是澎湖的人口沒有那麼多。在這裡工作的人應該都有很寬大的房間。

在馬公市內、我看到這個看板。有以前的荷蘭東印公司的象徵。就是把VOC的C寫成O。
I took this photo in town (Makung) when I was getting breakfast. I forget already what the building was, but for some reason they're using a modified Dutch East India Company logo. (The "C" in "VOC" seems to have turned into a second "O" though.)
馬公市内に、このシンボルを使っている場所が有った。昔台湾とか日本とかで活躍したオランダ東インド会社のぱくりだ。でも「VOC」のCがもう一個のOに成っている。
This temple is in the main town of Makung, and it's from the 1700's.

在馬公市內的廟。應該是澎湖/臺灣最早的把媽祖崇拜的廟。

While it wasn't as overwhelming as Quemoy, there are still a fair number of soldiers on the Pescadores.
金門のほどじゃなかったけど、澎湖にも兵士が多かった。
我覺得沒有金門那麼多、但是澎湖也還有蠻多軍人。

この日、白沙の北海岸に行ってフェリーに乗った。行き先が北に浮かんでいる「吉貝」（ジーベー）と言う島だ。
On this day, I went up to Baisha and got a ferry to an island called Jibei up to the north from Baisha. It's unconnected by bridges, so you have to take a ferry to it.
這天我先去白沙北海岸坐船到了吉貝島。

There's a really pretty beach on the island.
めっちゃ綺麗なビーチが有る。
I'm not sure what the point of these poles is...
変な植物がビーチで生えていた。葉っぱなど全くない。しかも株は鉄で出来ている様に見える。不思議だね。
I climbed up this small hill and got to see one of these fish catching areas. These are rock walls in the shallow sea, and many beaches in the Pescadores have them. They work by letting fish into the cut off area during high tide, and cutting them off from the open sea during low tide. This makes it way easier to catch the fish.
像海裡牆的東西是為了獲魚做的。滿潮時候魚進來、然後乾潮時候魚出不去了。
これらの塀は魚を獲る為に作られた物だ。満潮に成ったら、魚などが進入出来る。でも干潮に成ったら皆逃げられなく成る。漁師はそれでわりと簡単に獲れる。
Some lighthouse? Radio tower?
Here we can see the pretty beach that I was on a number of photos above. It looks much cooler from above than when you're actually on it.
上の写真は先のビーチだ。上から見た方が綺麗だ。

The roads on the island were all like this. Narrow.
この門はお墓への入り口だ。凄くない？台湾の田舎のお墓は本当に半端ない。

Fascinating wildlife. I need to get a bird book for Taiwan. There are so many birds here, and I don't know what any of them are.

The island's school. It's pretty nice, especially considering the fact that there are probably what, 20 kids on the island?
島の学校だ。日本みたいに台湾の人口、特に田舎の人口、が激しく減っている。こんなに立派な学校なのに、もしかして生徒の人数は２０人に過ぎないかもしれない。
This temple has a balcony section around the open courtyard. I've never seen a design like this before.
這個廟很特別。因為二樓有露台。
I like how they chose to romanize the name of the island. "Gee Bay"
「吉貝」的拼音有意思。「Gee Bay」。在臺灣我常常看到有意思的拼音。
在港旁邊有這些東西。看起來沒有用。也許是美術嗎？
I'm not really sure what these structures at the port were supposed to be. Art? They definitely don't serve any functional purpose.
