Picking up where we left off last time, we're still at one of the abandoned forts on Siyu Island.
The view is pretty spectacular. Island forts need to be up high to see the surrounding sea, so it's not surprising that they would be in a beautiful location.A closer look at the leaf pile the guy was burning while I was there.
After leaving the abandoned forts, I went to Erkan Village also on the island of Xiyu. The village has a lot of traditional houses, so it's been turned into a sort of tourist attraction. (I'm pretty sure people still actually live there though, it's just that they constantly have tourists traipsing through the streets in front of their houses.)
The shape of the roofs and the red tiles are typical of traditional Fujianese homes. (And Fujian is where the ancestors of most Taiwanese people came from.)
They were doing some sort of construction on the temple in town.
An electric meter topped with a Stone Lion statue like the ones that are common in Quemoy.
I thought the reliefs on the temple were cute.
This temple was near Erkan. It's famous and is usually referred to on tourist maps, but by the time I arrived it was already kind of late and their "Museum of Crabs" (the crustacean, not the STD) had shut down, so I didn't really check it out much.

Some views from the bridges on the way back to the island of Baisha.
On a small bridge, I came across these two dogs chasing after a guy on a scooter. They seemed to chasing playfully, so I assume that the guy was probably their owner/friend.
And some views from the bridge back to the main island of Makung.

There's still more! Fun times!
